The Easynet looking-glass provides Easynet customers and partners a mechanism to discover routing and peering data relating to the AS4589 network. To that end, this looking-glass is provided for operational purposes only and on a best-effort basis. Information is presented as-is and no guarantee on the accuracy of this data is given or implied.
Use of this service is subject to various legal terms and conditions, links to which can be found at the bottom of this page.
Parameter: none
The looking-glass will query our internal Peering database to discover the presence and status of our Peering-related BGP sessions. This database is updated approximately every thirty minutes and the timestamp of each record is displayed for reference.
Parameter: IP prefix (mandatory)
This operation will cause a command to be executed on a router at the indicated site in order to retrieve information on the BGP paths to the supplied prefix. Some routers will insist on full prefix notation (for example, 2001:6f8::/32) for IPv6 addresses.
Note the specific limitations on router-based queries below.
Parameter: IP address (mandatory)
This will ask the router to display the routes we receive from the given BGP neighbor address. This address must be that of a peering BGP session at the selected site.
Note the specific limitations on router-based queries below, though in this case the backend will attempt to select the appropriate router in a site for the given address should that site host more than one.
Parameter: Hostname or IP address (mandatory)
The indicated router performs a traceroute to the specified hostname. The results are presented only after the operation completes which for some destinations may take a long time. Destinations that do not respond may cause the query to time out without any data returned. Not all routers are configured to support this function; Where a site has no routers that support this operation, if you have JavaScript enabled then sites will be disabled in the form, otherwise a notice will be returned.
Note the specific limitations on router-based queries below.
To limit the impact on routers that are part of the live network the looking-glass backend limits concurrent queries to a given router to only one at a time. Furthermore the backend enforces a grace period between queries. If a query encounters this limit then the frontend will, for a short period, continue to try to perform the request.
This looking-glass is site focussed; however some of our sites have multiple routers handling the IXP's present there. In this situation router-based operations will choose a router at random to execute the query on. This may cause confusing results when a query is run twice in quick succession - particularly if the results are different.
To protect the integrity of the Easynet network all parameters given by end users are subjected to comprehensive validation. Users are asked not to try to work-around these validation mechanisms. In the past various router platforms have had vulnerabilities in their software that has had serious implications for looking-glass services.
